Book Keeping

Running a small business involves a lot of multi-tasking including a lot of boring administrative and financial duties.  Anyone will tell you, other than perhaps your accountant, marketing your products and services should be the thrust of your business.  Sitting on a computer entering data can be counter-productive but when you are starting out what choice do you have.  After all you have to walk before you can run.

Staying on top of daily bookkeeping task and having audits to prevent tax issues can be a daunting task but unfortunately it has to be done.  As painful as it may be there are advantages to hiring a professional right from the start.  The price you pay now may prevent higher costs being paid later.

Daily and Annual Bookkeeping Duties – Even if you can afford an in-house bookkeeper this should not deter you from using an outside accounting firm to oversee and monitor accounts receivable, payable, and payroll. By using the professionals bookkeeping services it eliminates the cost of duplicating bookkeepers

Here at Piper Accounting we use Quick books. There are a lot of more expensive and complex software accounting programs around but for the individual or small businessman QuickBooks is the accounting software of choice for the most part. Why? It is one of the most comprehensive accounting packages on the market. It contains all the components one needs to run their business: general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, payable and fixed assets. It is fairly user friendly, affordable and has several versions depending on your needs or type of business and advise you on which version is for you.
